Description
This Yorkshire pottery Prattware bust of a male figure is impressed on the base MR.HENSHAW. The socle base is painted with a feathered blue, ochre, black, and blue sponge decoration with the typical Mexborough Pottery signature.
I have attached a picture of another version that shows the title clearly.
The portrait likely relates to Thomas Henshaw. In 1807 he made his will, which bequeathed £20,000 (£2 million as of 2024)] to establish a charity school in Oldham and £20,000 for the foundation of an asylum for the blind in Manchester.
