A rare large sized Wrotham slipware dated flared cylindrical form puzzle tyg with four hollow loop shaped handles. The dark brown ground is profusely decorated with cream coloured slip with stud and dotted embellishments. The rectangular central panel is dated in relief 1696 above another panel with the potters initials I E (perhaps John Eaglestone). The owners initials in monogram and in triangular form W E M are interspersed with dot and dash motifs and there are various applied pad prunts including a fleur de lys and another with the Arms of Amsterdam.

Current Condition: Replaced one handle, body cracks, some chipping at rim.
