The figure group known as"Who Shall Wear the Breches "and "Conquer or Die" is one of the rarest from the Staffordshire potters of the early 19th century. This exceptional piece is the claw foot version and shows the married couple in a fight by the fireside with both of them tugging on a pair of breeches. The figure is expressively modeled, capturing the battle of the spouses. The female figure brandishes a tool from the fireplace to emphasize her point.

Dimensions: 8.25 inches high

Current Condition: Feet on base restored, male figures arm, fire tongs as an addition.
