Description
This impressive pottery watch stand consists of a long-case clock on an oblong base flanked by two cherubic figures leaning on plinths.
The splashed decoration of purple and pink luster is outstanding. The enamel colors enhance the piece and elevate it to the status of one of the best examples produced of its type.
The base is impressed with the Dixon Austin mark, which dates to the 1820-25 period in Sunderland, England.
The base has two holes on either side of the impressed mark, which suggests it could be used to secure the stand to the mantel.
