Staffordshire Pottery pearlware glazed Toby Jug. The figure is wearing a long coat and tricorn hat whilst seated with a frothing jug of ale and tobacco pipe in the other. Depite his facial spots and warts the character is enjoying his indulgences. A classic piece of social commentary reflecting an aspect of the English common man.
