This large-sized Staffordshire pottery spirit flask has an image in deep relief of a smoking toper holding a glass of ale in his right hand and a pipe in his left hand to his mouth. The male character is expressive and decorated in detail with good enamel colors. Two apertures at the neck facilitate hanging the flask from a belt. The image and decorations are the same on both sides of the flask, including the leaf decorations around the outer edges.
