A rare pottery figure of an owl perched on a molded rectangular base with polychrome decoration in underglaze oxide colors in the style of Thomas Whieldon. The character and sharp wisdom of the bird is expressed in this early piece of pottery from the 18th century. The piece was formerly in the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation collection.
Dimensions: 8 inches high, 5.5 inches wide, 3 inches long
Current Condition: Unrestored with some feint and stable radial hairlines along the base and back.
Provenance: Colonial Williamsburg Foundation collection.
