The pottery pearlware glazed watch stand features a figure of the Greek goddess of truth Urania, who sits by a globe of the earth where she points a compass. The enamel coloring is the best quality on this figure, which is inscribed along the base " THE GODESS OF TRUTH. Urania is also the muse of astrology in classical Greek mythology. This figure formed part of the famous Earle Collection and is illustrated in his catalog figure reference 496 page 171 The early Collection of Early Staffordshire Pottery by Major Cyril Earle.

Dimensions: 9.25 inches high

Current Condition: Restored finger and compass.

Provenance: Originally formed part of the Major Cyril Earle Collection his catalog published by the author in 1915.
