This pottery pearlware glazed figure of a lion is strongly molded and decorated in enamel colors. The lion is modeled standing on a faux marble base with a front paw resting on a yellow ball. The lion has an expressive shocked expression, and the tail is unrealistically long, features adding to the naive charm of a classical figure intending to be sophisticated. This figure is a rare previously unrecorded example.

Dimensions: 6.75 inches high, 8 inches wide

Current Condition: Unrestored good condition with an original firing detail at the back leg
