The Staffordshire pottery figure of a cat recumbent on a turquoise base is expressively molded and simply decorated. The white body has gold spots. The naive but striking decoration of the feline's eyes, nose, and whiskers, along with the pricked-up ears, is engaging and the simple and bold lines make this rare figure a compelling, delightful, folk-like example.
