The officer modeled holding a brown horse's reigns, wearing a tricorn hat and a jacket edged in cream. The figure is loaded with the weapons and accessories of war. The piece is made of colored clays with a lead transparent glaze. The oblong fluted base is decorated with a splashed green, manganese, grey, and ochre oxide colors in the classic Whieldon style. This figure is a very rare example, and similar pieces with the same theme are located in major collections and internationally recognized museums.

Dimensions: 7.5 inches high

Current Condition: Professional restoration at extremities.

Provenance: Deaccessioned from a Chicago Museum in 2019
