Description
Rare creamware bodied pottery figure of a seated cat modeled holding a mouse in its mouth. The brown and green colored glazes are in the style of Thomas Whieldon, the famous potter based in Staffordshire. The feline is modeled on a base with her tail curving around the top rim, with a perfectly captured expression. This model was produced in several renditions, and this particular piece is probably the first of its type dating to the 1770 period.
