A rare North Devon slipware puzzle jug, the rounded and squat formed body incised with the date 1796 and a verse " This jug I made to try your wit,if you the licqor can Geet." The jug is decorated at the shoulder with a zig zag feature, the base a scrolling motif with flowers. The neck is pierced with groups of small holes and vertical panels the rim with a single spout.The body is decorated with a dark cream slip with a few randomly applied green splashes.

Dimensions: 6.5 inches high

Current Condition: Good condition, no restoration, and only minor wear commensurate with the ware and age
