Description
An English earthenware slipware Harvest Jug sgraffito decorated with engaging naive images of a horse, leopard, bird, trees, stars and two suns.
The delightful images bring to mind the Palaeolithic cave paintings at Lascaux, France.
The pitcher has the Cornish name of John Trennsick, on the handle and the shoulder. Interestingly, Mrs is also inscribed, which could indicate this was commissioned as a gift to her husband.
