The male military equestrian figure is modeled holding the reigns, wearing a tricorn hat and a jacket edged in a cream slip. His breeches are cream-colored, and he sports dark brown boots and a satchel across his shoulder. The chestnut horse has a cream saddle cloth and harness. The figure is exceptionally well formed and stands on a fluted oblong base decorated with splashed green, manganese, grey, and ochre oxide colors in the Whieldon manner combined with specific Astbury-colored clay. This figure is a rare example.
