Description
An exceptionally rare pottery pearlware glazed plaque with half-length portraits of the Duke of Wellington, Queen Charlotte, and General Blucher, the Prussian ally.
The relief molded portraits are well defined and well decorated in colored enamels. Field Marshal, His Grace the Duke of Wellington, was formally welcomed back to Great Britain by Queen Charlotte at her London home, Buckingham House celebrating the decisive victory over the French at Waterloo in June 1815. The back of the plaque is indistinctly inscribed with the names of the military men and the Queen.
