Rare English Prattware pottery figure of a lion 18th century

The animal is well modeled, standing on a rectangular base with relief molded decoration of leaves at the bottom rim. The underglaze color decoration is in the typical Prattware palette of ochre, brown,blue and mossy green. Incised lines accentuate the detail on the spectacular mane and his tail tucked between his legs. The top of the base is delightfully naively decorated with "A LION." The figure is in good condition and is exceptionally rare.
