The plate is delftware earthenware and decorated in polychrome colors with a central image of a bell closed with scrolls of leaves, and it attributed to the Lambeth or Vauxhall Delftworks located in London. A similar plate located in the Fitzwilliam Museum decorated in blue and white and from notes supplied in J.W.L.Glaishyer's personal catalog thought possibly made for the Bell Inn Nottingham.
