Description
Obadiah Sherratt Pottery produced some of the best examples of British pottery in the early 19th century. This large scale table base is a distinctive and recorded feature of the Lion figure which was produced at the time of the burgeoning growth and importance of the British Empire. The lion is well modelled in what was meant to be a serious rendition of the beast but which in modern times is seen as a folk art expression of the king of the jungle.
This model is a rare version.
