A very rare Staffordshire pottery pearlware figure of Lord Rodney. The figure is extremely well modelled and decorated. Rodney is standing on a rocky mound surrounded by flags, a cannon,anchor with a telescope resting by his feet. Rodney is holding a sabre. The inside of the base is titled LORD RODNEY 5 in best gold. The model is by Pierre Stephan who also produced figures for the Derby Porcelain works. Rodney is part of a set of British military and naval heroes modelled by Stephan whose work was of the highest quality with comprehensive attention to detail.
