Antique English pottery Prattware sauce boat early 19th century, Staffordshire or Yorkshire Pottery.

Ref: 2652 Categories: ,

£1485

Dated: 1800 Staffordshire or Yorkshire England

A rare English pottery pratt coloured sauce boat in the form of a swan at the tail and a fox at the head. This bizarre combination of figures gives a touch of the absurd to the piece which only adds to its charm. Staffordshire or Yorkshire pottery from the beginning of the 19th century. Similar forms were produced in lead glaze in the late 18th century. The foxes head on these pieces are a true representation which, on the later Prattware piece have been augmented to an unrecognizable animal, a wonderful aspect of English pottery.
