This money box was made at the Mexborough Pottery located in Yorkshire England. The money box naively modeled as a cottage with heads looking out of the two top windows while male and female figures are standing at the side of the building. Such pieces were intended for children as an encouragement to save and be thrifty in classic Yorkshire tradition. The bank is decorated in underglaze Pratt type colors and is indistinctly impressed with a mark under the base. Various models of this type were produced; this is a slightly larger version.

Dimensions: 5 inches high, 4.75 inches wide, 3 inches long

Current Condition: Some restoration to the male and female figures.
