The pottery pearlware glazed pitcher is expressively enamel color decorated with a male cello player seated playing in a pastoral setting. The reverse is outstandingly painted with four roses and leaves. Under the spout, the name Thos Staton is applied in a cartouche bordered by leaves. The pitcher's glaze, shape, body, and decoration lead to a Swansea Pottery attribution.
