Ralph Wood 's figures are instantly recognizable with their distinctive modeling, colored glaze, and dry unglazed body under the bases. He is acclaimed as one of the significant potters of the 18th century, along with Whieldon, Greatbach, and Wedgwood. The figure of a boy is illustrated in the Frank Partridge Ralph Wood Collection catalog reference 116, which has an identical base.
