A striking pair of large-sized pottery male lions modeled in repose on oblong bases made at the H.Davies, Pill Pottery in Newport, South Wales. The distinctive and imposing modeling is readily identifiable as Pill Pottery, whose unique sculptural style captured the noble character of the kings of the animal kingdom. The incised artistic decoration is intensely and graphically applied on this substantially molded pair making an imposing decorative statement.
