An appealing pair of recumbant lions on bases from the enigmatic "Pill Pottery".The figures are sculptural with heads full of regal presence with a tinge of pathos.They are very strongly cast and finished exuberantly by hand.The body is an orange red clay covered in white slip with a lustrous clear glaze producing depth and a dark honey colour. The pair have very strong presence with a naive bold impact. They would sit happily in a traditional or a contemporary setting thanks to the timeless artistic form.

Current Condition: Some historical scuffing in places which only adds to the texture and visual impact of the pair.
