The stoneware salt-glazed puzzle jug was made at the Nottingham pottery in the 18th century. The jug has a classic lustrous brown glaze and has three spouts, a hollow handle, and a band of small holes around the shoulder. Nottingham's wares are very distinctive, with deep shiny, lustrous metallic glaze on finely produced pots with a simple but elegantly understated design and features.
