Description
A large English pottery pitcher decorated with a yellow ground and three silver luster bands at the top rim was produced during the Napoleonic Wars in the early 19th century.
The jug is decorated with three underglaze transfer printed panels, highlighted with enamel colors.
The two cartoon fine quality panels, titled ” One of the 71st taking a French Officer prisoner in Portugal” and JOHN BULL and his companion challenging Bonaparte and his relation.”
The panel under the spout is a drinking-themed poem named JAMES HANDFORD in script above.
