Description
Italian “piatto da pompa”, a grand plate for ceremonial use, most likely Deruta, ca.1660. The faience glazed earthenware charger is extravagantly decorated with images of birds, trees, leaves and foliage. The border is decorated with a cartouche with a crown, a pair of dividers and a plank and probably represents a gild of carpenters. The charger is in very fine condition and has strong decorative impact, it is a statement piece.
