The massive scale baluster-shaped delftware pottery vase is blue on white ground. The painting is very high quality with a delicate, sensitive rendition of the birds, butterflies, and flowers — the design inspired by Chinese decorated porcelain from the Ming dynasty. This highly decorative piece makes a spectacular statement and can be displayed on a table or floor standing. The vase was made in the late 17th century, probably Dutch.
