Description
A Ralph Wood Pottery type toby jug of the famous “Brighton Dipper” Martha Gunn. The jug is well modeled and decorated with green and brown glazes in the classic Wood style.
Martha is modeled wearing a green dress and an apron with a profusion of brown dashes. She wears a mop cap with a large brimmed hat sitting on top, the brim of the hat is adorned with the three feathers the emblem of the Prince of Wales. This acknowledges her fame as the “Dipper” to Prince George in 1785. She hold a glass in her left hand and a spirit flask in the right hand.
