This large earthenware slipware flask is decorated with the initials I+B above a verse "Sup About John while thy Money be all gone" the reverse features a diamond-shaped motif with embellishments. The flask is made with four strong lugs, which are pierced to enable carrying with a strap. The flask is the work of the Burton in Lonsdale pottery. It is in unrestored condition and has an ancient fine tight, and stable hairline crack, which does not compromise the integrity of this rare piece from the 18th century.
