Figures of horses in early English pottery are always rare, and this fat bodied Shire horse is one of the most unique within this genre. The horse is modeled with an expressive bridled head and wears a yellow girdle and a  blue and dark ochre blanket beautifully decorated in intense Pratt type colors. The horse is sponge painted and sports a brown main and tail. The elegant rectangular base is a translucent green and completes the image of this fine quality piece probably made in the North of England  at the turn of the 18th century

Dimensions: 6.25 inches high, 7 inches wide

Current Condition: Ear and tail professionally invisibly restored.
