This English pottery pitcher is decorated in exceptional quality silver luster with resist decorations of floral motifs on a bulbous molded body. The pitcher strikingly features the face of a Bacchus who is learing out from under the spout with a fixed smile. The enamel decoration of the face is well-executed. The pitcher is one of the best of its type made in the early 19th century.

Dimensions: 5.75 inches high

Current Condition: Fine clean, crisp unrestored condition, the luster in exceptionally good order. There is some crazing to glaze on the face, which only adds to the strength of the portrait.

Provenance: Private collection of a lady in the Cotswolds England.
