A fine antique pottery mocha tankard with engine turned bands in the centre of the body. This unusual feature ( the bands are usually present on the rims) gives extra appeal to the simple but sublime decoration. The tankard is very finely potted and has a good pearlware glaze, denoting an early piece of mochaware originating at the turn of the 18th century.

Dimensions: 5 inches high

Current Condition: Very fine condition with a minute chip at the top rim which does not warrant attention.

Literature: The authorative reference is by Jonathan RIckard titled "MOCHA and related dipped wares 1770-1939".
