This rare English circular earthenware slip decorated baking dish is a large size and is press-molded with a pie-crust rim. The slip is comb decorated with pale yellow and brown slip over a buff ground body, which suggests a Staffordshire origin. The dish is in good order with no restoration. There is historical evidence of use, such as worn matt glaze in the center with a small area of surface loss. The dish in remarkable condition considering its use and an excellent example of the potters' art.
