The pottery money box is slip decorated in the sgraffito technique with scrolling stems and leaves. The box has symbolized figures of a hen or rooster with three chickens, which add to the folk appeal of this rare example from the Devon Potteries, most probably the Fishleys Works based at Fremington. Pottery money boxes from this period are rare survivors as children often broke them in retrieving the savings.

Dimensions: 7.5 inches high

Current Condition: Restored chicken heads and signs of historic wear commensurate with age and use.
