A delftware pottery wall plaque in the form of a highly decorative and appealing shaped blue and white bird cage, a bird perched singing in the center. The rim of the plaque is manganese pierced twice for hanging, and the cage is embellished with a drawer, water feeder, and an elaborate rococo-style cartouch at the base. The modeling and the painting provide interesting realistic live-like perspectives. The monogram marks for the Makkum Tichelaar factory are in blue on the reverse.
