The plate is tin glaze delftware decorated in blue and white with a central ornamental and elaborate cartouch with the names of John and Elizabeth Haslope Yarmouth and the date 1743. Three fish surround the cartouche, symbols found on the Yarmouth armorial. The named couple are likely to associate with the sea, and this plate may have been made as a marriage moment. This rare Dutch plate was specially commissioned for John and Elizabeth.

Current Condition: The plate is in very good order with no restoration and only minor signs of wear relating to age.
