Description
The deep side oval-shaped earthenware slip-decorated baking dish is scraffito comb decorated and made at the Fremington pottery. Interestingly, these dishes were thrown in the round; a central segment was removed, and the two outers were squeezed together to give the oval form. This dish was produced with gravel added to the clay for extra kitchen utility strength. The central motif at the bottom of the dish is added to disguise the seam on this rare large version. NOTE; A larger dish is in our inventory, referenceĀ 8960, when put together with the smaller dish makes a compelling decorative display.
