Description
This creamware pottery pitcher is decorated with black and white underglaze prints; one shows the civilized commencement of a party held in a genteel garden setting, the other depicts a party held indoors, possibly a tavern, with much evidence of alcohol and smoking.
The pitcher is named in capitalsĀ ELINOR JENKINS OF ABERAYRON.
Note the anglicized spelling: the Welsh spelling is Aberaeron, translatedĀ Aber the mouth of the river Aeron is the name of the river.
The pitcher was probably made at the Liverpool pottery at the end of the 18th century.
