The patch box is oval-shaped with a hinged and clasp bronzed metal mount and is decorated on copper in royal blue with a white interior. The cover is finely and expressively decorated on white enamel and also on copper with a portrait of King George 111 in a calm noble pose. The picture is surrounded by the inscription "Britons rejoice your King restored" and "GEO 111 REX," an expression proclaimed by the King's physician Francis Willis after successfully treating the King's supposed madness in 1788.
