A rare "Sherratt" type Staffordshire pearlware pottery figure group known as " COURTSHIP". Various renditions of this subject were produced in the early 19th century and this the "Sherrat" version is the rarest. The male figure is offering the ring of bethrothal with a hesitant smile, the female companion is staring into the distance whilst clutching at her heart, the dog at her feet is witness to the experience. A highly decorative figure group with a highly coloured rainbow base whilst also expressing a touch of comedy.

Current Condition: Restorations.
