This pair of Staffordshire pottery model of hens are  modeled on yellow box bases with a central flower and is one of the rarest forms of its type produced in the 19th century. The well-modeled pair depicts a breed of Polish hens known for their flamboyant crests and beautiful color. The nest boxes or baskets are yellow and feature a blue flower head in the center. This pair is exceptionally rare and presents an amusing, characterful depiction of this exotic looking breed.
