Description
A fine and exceptionally good quality saltglazed stoneware figure of a spaniel seated on an oblong base with claw feet and interesting sprig decoration.
Probably the earliest classic figure of a spaniel, later copied by numerous Staffordshire potters.
The figure is well modelled with crisp definition and intricate attention to detail.
A large and imposing figure with a classical style.
The figure is the work of the Briddon Pottery who were based in Chesterfield Derbyshire.
