Description
Large and rare figure of a cow and milk maid with a pink luster base Staffordshire pottery England circa 1820 period. The modelling and quality of the figures are exceptional.
Attention is given to detail such as the frothing milk in the pail, the splayed legs of the milking stool, the flower design on the shawl etc.
The cow is realistically modeled and strongly painted in enamels.
A most unusual and rare feature of the piece is the pink splash and streaked pink luster base.
The combination of all these features, together with the large scale, make this figure group one of the best cow and milk maid works produced in pottery .
