A fine creamware bodies pitcher wonderfully decoated in enamel colours with farming motifs and sentiments. The pitcher bears the name of James Gascomb of Wineycroft and the date 1791. The decorated panels depict a plough and a sheaf of corn with various farming implements . "God speed the Plough" and "Success to the grain restored" are features across the top borders of this exceptional historical jug.

Current Condition: Fine unrestored exceptional condition.

Provenance: Wineycroft is the name of a farm in the village of Maston in Gloustershire England.. In 1788 a lease was drawn between George Augustus Selwyn to James Goscomb for the tenure of Wineycroft Farm, Matson. This historical record associated with the owner of this pitcher is located in the Gloucestershire Archives, reference D2957/321/105
