Description
The red earthenware-bodied flagon is hand thrown with a thick, lustrous Jackfield-type glaze.
Significantly the flagon is decorated with applied images of a bottle-formed kiln bellowing smoke, a potter at work on a bench, and a table of finished wares.
The flagon is probably a one-off, perhaps made by the potter for his own personal enjoyment.
A remarkable object full of vitality and deserving attention.
