Description
The wedge-shaped Jelly Core has a creamware body and superbly decorated with a frigate under sail. There are three additional motifs also hand-decorated of arms of war with flags, drums, cannon, spears, axes, sabers, trumpets, and a plumed bonnet. The ship may be HMS Endymion, a 40 gun 24-pounder frigate and the fastest vessel in the Royal Navy in the age of sail and logged over 14 knots running. She was involved in the Napoleonic and Opium Wars and perhaps most famously for her battle with the USS President in 1815.
The Jelly core is probably from the Robert Wilson, Church Works Pottery located in Hanley Staffordshire England.
