Description
Donyatt pottery 18th century bucket-shaped oviform-shaped jug with a pinched spout, cable handle, and four slip-trailed-decorated lines around the upper rim.
These now rare folk domestic vessels were used to carry water from wells or springs.
A shard from a museum collection is given with the jug.
Pots of this shape are recorded as made in the 17th century. Typical of many country potters, the style was continued as part of a tradition.
